Lonnie Liston Smith is a jazz musician from Virginia of United States. He was born (1940) into a musical family and learned piano, tuba and trumpet. Smith has associated with Miles Davis, Pharoah Sanders, Rahssan Roland Kirk, Betty Carter, Gato Barbieri and Max Roach. In 1973, Lonnie finally formed his own group called Lonnie Liston Smith And The Cosmic Echoes, with Cecil Mcbee (bass), George Barron (sax), Joe Beck (guitar), David Lee (drums), James Mtume (percussion), Sonny Morgan (percussion), Badal Roy (tabla drums) and Geeta Vashi (tamboura). They blended atmospheric fusion,soul, funk and jazz. In present he performes live all around the world.
