Paul Humphrey and The Cool Aid Chemists is an American R&B, jazz, funk band formed in 1971. The band consists of Paul Nelson Humphrey (bandleader, drummer), David T. Walker (guitarist), Phil Upchurch (guitarist, bassist) and Clarence MacDonald (pianist). They had a short stay in the limelight when their single Cool Aid made it into R&B top20 in 1971. Humphrey had work as a session drummer for jazz artists like Jimmy Smith, Charles Mingus, Less McCann and recorded with Steely Dan, Frank Zappa, Al Kooper, Albert King and many more. He also was bandleader of Paul Humphrey Sextet (1981).
