Carole King is an American singer and songwriter. She born in 1942 in Manhattan, grew up in Brooklyn and started learning piano at the age of four. In college she met Gerry Goffin, who was to become her song-writing partner and her husband. In 1968 King formed The City, a music trio with Charles Larkey and Danny Korchmar. She has wrote several hits for artists such as The Shirelles, Aretha Franklin and The Monkees. She is active in environmental issues. Carole King has won four Grammy's.
